book launches, botanicals and birthdays--Oh MY!

This past week was more action packed than most. My friend Marcy Dermansky’s latest book “Hurricane Girl:” came out and we had a great launch at Watchung Books where moderator/actrees Dagmara Domińczyk asked her lots of great questions without any spoilers. Afterward, we all headed to Marcy’s house for a fun party in her backyard. So proud of her! She is getting the most incredible reviews including the New York Times and The Boston Globe.

Had me creative group meetup in Bryant Park the next day so we each set some concrete goals for July.

This weekend I celebrated a much delayed birthday for one of my friends and we were so blessed to have perfect, sunny 72 degree weather this late in July! Nice long lunch outdoors, a walk through ny fave local garden and then back to my place to open gifts.

And as always, little Boo is a constant delight. She is taking up making art in my studio as I work. Usually abstracts made by walking across fresh paint. ;)

slow down and look

One of the most beautiful treasures in Montclair is the Avis Campbell Gardens. I go there all year long and there is always something different blooming each season (except winter). It's tucked away and I love to see when people first stumble upon it. Absolutely gorgeous. I went Friday with my watercolor class and it was so nice to paint outside with nothing but chirping birds and the sound of the water fountain babbling away...Sure beats sitting in front of my computer!

My parents visited this past week so I spent a lot of time walking in the park with my dad each morning. From turtles, geese, cardinals, ducks and egrets to every assortment of dog I was in critter heaven. And then there was just the sheer beauty of spring unfolding everywhere.
