It feels as though Spring is much later this year. I took a walk in the park and only a handful of cherry blossoms were in full bloom. But so gorgeous! The tulips and daffodils too. I laughed when I saw this bunny face dangling from a branch. I’m sure some kid lost in on Easter.
snow day...
It was really coming down when I awoke the other day. The news was showing that just about every school was closed in our area. My car was already buried and outside the window the snow seemed to be blowing in every direction. It was gorgeous and this time it was not the powdery kind, but heavy snow, which clung to every branch and surface. I made a teeny tiny snowman on my windowsill–with capers for eyes and a slither of carrot for a nose. I spent the day working on gathering more files for my agent but around 2 pm I allowed myself time to just paint. not illustration. not anything representational. just free creating. Bliss.
january walk...
It was only 26 degrees, but I couldn't wait to get outside. There is something magical about winter. The past few winters have been so mild and even this year has very little snow accumulation. I just love to walk around town and look at the woods, the homes, the bits of nature, etc. It is great for creativity too!
first snow...
There was a lot of excitement over the weekend about a big storm coming through the area. I was out that day, but it began to snow around 3pm. I watched it coming down and still felt that excitement I had when I was a kid. Back then it mean a chance that school would be closed, but now it’s more about the quiet that snow brings. It coats everything in this gorgeous, pristine white. I drove home around dusk and snapped these photos. I love how blue the light is at that hour.
color pop!
I always enjoy checking in on my favorite garden here in Montclair. As summer progresses, the colors seem to get more saturated each day. It’s incredibly beautiful!
